Diwali today!

Diwali. Do we still introduce it to the children as the victory of Good over Evil; Virtue over Vice? Well, it is high time we stopped doing so.

The so-called Kalyug has not even left the meaningful Diwali from its Satanic clutches. Where once this was a festival of lights, it now stands as a Nationally accepted Blinding and Deafening Day. The lights adorning the new mooon day, in effect carry forward the same to the next many days. All the extra lights that we use consume electricity with the output nowhere. They don't just stagnate the electricity scarcity, they rather put it at a worse footing. Where the privileged derives more than what he should be ethically taking, light nearly diffuses out of the lives of the helpless.

But here our dear crackers come to our rescue. They bring the rich and the poor at equal portals when they come to harming. Even at their best, they do not care a bit about the environment or maybe the invalid, both of which get tortured to the extreme These carckers, though fired as a mark of enjoyment, know nothing but destruction.

Uptil here, everyone would agree with me, but what if I forgive the cracker and blame the teacher? The teachers are us humans who take pleasure in risky and adventurous things. None but we taught the crackers to burn our griefs, to fly away to touch the skies and to explode to our astonishment. The invention just surpassed our joys alongside.
If at all there was a time when Diwali signified prosperity, it is mere history now. A history which calls for repeal. Today, we sit in a courtroom prosecuting the crackers with a lot a stake, where we form both the jury and the executive. We certainly cannot change the already formed mentalities, but we sure can try to prevent the same from setting into our own minds. We must believe that there is a better world that awaits our generation and the descent, with our part being just to aspire to live upto our expectations.
